That moment when you are trying to get your bunnies to sit still while you take a picture… and one of them leaps in the air at the last second! This is Hans and Gretel (well, Gretel’s feet) when we tried taking some pics to update the website.

Gwen Butler, BEM
After being awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, Gwen was recently presented with her medal at a ceremony in North Yorkshire.
Fritz and Gigi with the wild bunnies
A couple more pics of Fritz and Gigi playing in the garden. Since the new enclosure has been built for the wild bunnies they have started sitting and talking to them through the wire. Previous to this they used to sit at the other side of the garden under the bushes. The wild bunnies don’t seem to mind much, but getting a photo of them all together is impossible!
New Additions
Gwen has been nursing 7 baby rabbits which were recently brought in to Bunny Burrows. They have started eating independently but Gwen is still feeding them milk regularly to make sure they keep their strength up.
And as you can imagine, she is having to check visitors pockets as they leave because they are sooo cute!
Fritz and Friends
Fritz has been out in the garden enjoying the summer, and has made one or two friends!
Meanwhile, in the house, Gretel has been helping Gwen get items ready to sell on Ebay
Extension to the Wildies Enclosure
It is only a few months since the Wildies Enclosure was built, and it has been extended already!
The extension is currently used as a separate run for a different group of wild bunnies, with a removable panel in between if the 6 of them decide they are all going to get on together.
A big thank you once again to Dave for his handy work!
More Fund Raising
Bunny Burrows would like to say a massive thank you to Lush for their recent donation to the charity, which is a great help towards the rising vet bills and general up keep.
We would also like to say a big thank you to Pledge a Pound for their kind donations. We have been very lucky to be chosen in a number of their recent draws and are very grateful for the work they do.
Also this week the Bunny Burrows helpers have been running a tombola at Pets at Home to help raise vital funds.
Enjoying the Summer
The furries and shellies have been out enjoying the sun. Even Fliss comes out of the house from time to time, but only to make sure she’s not missing something!
Fund Raising
Fliss has been out and about fund raising again, this time at Pets at Home. As you can see she is doing all the hard work herself while Gwen is busy gossiping…
Gwen recognised in Queen’s Birthday Honours
Bunny Burrows are pleased to announce Gwen has been awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Gwen has worked tirelessly for over 20 years to improve the lives of small animals; both through rescuing and education. Run from her home, Bunny Burrows was setup in 1996 by Gwen and her late husband John. Together they have rescued many animals and given them a new chance of life, either as permanent residents or through re homing.
Over the years Gwen and Bunny Burrows have received several awards and nominations. Last year she was recognised for her work rescuing Hans, an abandoned dutch rabbit who needed major surgery and nursing – although Hans did take all the credit. 3 years ago she received the CEVA award for volunteer of the year, giving her an excuse to buy a new dress and let her hair down for one night (and getting to meet Brian May).
